"New York is a place that's always on the move and changing," says Shannon Haragan, part of the leadership team for Haven. "People come and go. And for over seven years now, the Haven has welcomed hundreds of creative professionals. We've always looked for the best way to share our friendly and inviting message."

The Haven has the distinct opportunity to serve creative professionals - actors, dancers, writers, filmmakers, musicians, etc - with a Christian leadership message that's atypical of the New York City creative and entertainment industries. In these stressful, competitive, and sometimes unscrupulous fields, this organization provides a sanctuary and a vibrant community of artists that meets weekly with a full evening of fellowship, worship, and study.
When the Haven's communications team set its goals for 2004, one of our priorities was to present a warm and casual welcome through all the media and materials we created. Primary to that need was signage that both welcomed and provided direction through our weekly venue (the Lambs Theater in Times Square). The result was a friendly theme of message and color that proved consistent with the website.
In 2005, the message began to evolve for the sake of production efficiency. With a schedule that changed regularly, it was important to manage the designs so they could be updated easily. These materials also began to place emphasis on orienting new members and visitors to the Haven, its mission, weekly schedule, and other basic details. A guide for new "havenites" was produced on a simple postcard for this expressed purpose, answering the fundamental questions about the organization.
